Bossier VINELink Search Coverage
The Louisiana Automated Victim Notification System, or LAVINE, runs on the VINELink platform. The Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement says it covers adult inmates in all parish jails and state prisons. Status inquiries are free and may be made anonymously through the website or 866-LAVNS-4-U. Users may also register for release, transfer, and other custody-change notices.
DPS&C says LAVINE includes people in prison and people under probation or parole supervision. That broader state layer is useful after someone leaves a Bossier Parish facility. A result marked for community supervision may support physical release from confinement while showing that correctional authority continues. It is not the same as full discharge.
The Bossier Sheriff inmate gateway and the statewide service have different roles. The local catalog helps identify a current or last-known booking. LAVINE carries custody events across parish and state systems. Neither a missing local entry nor an empty LAVINE result proves release by itself.
Search a Bossier Inmate
Gather only enough data to distinguish the person. An exact name, known age or birth information, Bossier booking number, and DPS&C number are strong matching points. Search variants help with compound names and data entry, but never join a result to a person because the names merely look alike.
- Open Louisiana VINELink/LAVINE and select the person search rather than a service-provider search.
- Enter an exact or partial name, or use the ID or case field that the current interface offers. Start with the fewest reliable fields.
- Narrow by location when the field is available. For a local case, compare the Bossier agency or last known facility.
- Review all plausible matches. Compare name, age or birth data, ID, and location before opening the record.
- Open the matched record and copy the status, event, facility, and date labels exactly. Do not translate a transfer into a release.
- If no result appears, retry a spelling or ID variant and call the live LAVINE line before drawing a conclusion.
The Bossier Police-to-Citizen catalog can supply the last booking ID for the match. A current entry generally supports current local custody. Its absence is only a clue because transfer, correction, delayed data, expunged access, and an actual release can all remove a public entry.
Note: Search by ID when available because name-only results are more prone to mistaken identity and missed custody events.
Bossier VINELink Release Fields
Read the record as a status report, not as a certified release record. Displayed labels can vary by source agency and event. A Bossier Parish jail release may show out of custody or released. A state case may show incarceration, parole, probation, community supervision, or another state term. Preserve that wording because the labels describe different legal and physical states.

A projected release date is not an actual departure. DPS&C documents its phone locator, 225-383-4580, as the route that may provide a projected date when calculated, plus facility and assigned Probation and Parole district information. If no projected date is available, the time calculation may not be done. That is not proof of an indefinite sentence.

Set Bossier Release Alerts
Register from the matched record. That step ties the notice to the correct person and agency data. Select the events that matter, such as release or transfer, and choose more than one contact method when the interface offers them. Phone, text, email, and in-app methods may be available, but the current screen controls.
- Select “Get notified” or the equivalent action on the matched Bossier or DPS&C record.
- Choose each custody event to track. Keep release and transfer selected as separate events when both matter.
- Enter the offered phone number, email address, or other destination. Check it before submitting.
- Create the four-digit notification PIN when the phone or text workflow asks for one. Keep it private.
- Complete any email, text, or account confirmation. Save the registration information that the system returns.
- Test or manage the registration through the official route if an option is provided.
On an automated phone or TTY notice, listen through the full event and enter the four-digit PIN followed by the pound key. VINE may leave a message and retry when no one acknowledges a call. A text registration can also request the notification PIN. An account-verification code is different: VINELink may send a six-character code through email or text to verify an account. Do not enter that six-character code into an event-notification call.
If the PIN is lost, use the state toll-free route and live-operator help. Do not publish a subscriber's PIN, email address, phone number, or registration details.
Alert delivery is a convenience, not a certified event record. A phone may be off, an email may be filtered, or source data may reach LAVINE after the physical change. Keep the registration details, but do not treat silence as proof that custody continued. In the same way, do not treat one alert as a full account of the case. The originating Bossier or DPS&C record remains the source for the event type and time.
Louisiana Alerts Bridge Bossier Releases
Louisiana's local-to-state notification layer is unusually clear. LCLE states that LAVINE covers every adult parish jail and state prison, not just DPS&C institutions. That makes it the correct bridge when a person drops from a Bossier Parish catalog entry and later appears under a state location or status. The service also supports free anonymous status checks and event registration.
The bridge still depends on precise event language. A transfer notice means the person changed placement. It does not mean freedom from custody. A community-supervision entry can indicate physical release while legal supervision remains. A release event can identify departure, but exact Bossier jail processing time may require the Sheriff's completed event record.
Louisiana also distinguishes LAVINE registration from formal DPS&C Victim Outreach registration. DPS&C guidance states that projected and actual release notices for a state-imprisoned person currently require formal Victim Outreach registration. Bossier VINELink Search Limits
VINE can include people who are currently confined and people recently released, but it does not publish one uniform retention period for released results. Louisiana data is updated periodically rather than guaranteed in real time. State law also disclaims guarantees of accuracy, timeliness, and completeness for the notification system. A delayed alert or no result therefore needs direct confirmation.

“Not in BOP custody” does not prove that no other agency holds the person. A federal pretrial person may be under U.S. Marshals authority and housed in a local jail. An ICE lookup can also fail because of transfer, release, removal, or a data mismatch. Use the custody system supported by the case facts.
Confirm Bossier VINELink Events
Match a LAVINE event to the originating record. For a Bossier pretrial booking, the strongest combination is a Sheriff release event with a bond or court minute. For a parish sentence, add the sentence-completion record. For a DPS&C sentence housed in Bossier, use the state discharge date, master record, or supervision assignment with the local physical event.
When the public systems conflict, ask the Bossier Sheriff records custodian for the named booking's released date and time, release type or destination code, releasing facility, court or bond reference, and receiving agency if transferred. Keep the request narrow and include the booking ID.
The court file can settle the legal basis without settling the exact physical hour. A bond order, dismissal, time-served minute, sentence, probation judgment, revocation, or commitment explains what the judge ordered. The Sheriff event shows when local processing occurred.
